The Sewline Mechanical Fabric Pencil uses ceramic leads for drawing on fabrics with a nice, clear line. No particles or dust is left behind, like with tailors chalk.  The white marks are easy to remove by dabbing with a damp cloth or with the included eraser. The Mechanical Pencil also eliminates the need for sharpening. Just click the pencil top to advance the lead tip.

Excellent for transferring embroidery designs onto dark fabric using the lightbox method or creating Sashiko grids on denim!

Precise for Sashiko markings

This is THE most precise pencil for marking Sashiko patterns on indigo (that will eventually be rubbed/washed away), and it shows up wonderfully against those darker fabrics. My only "con" is cost. It's a wee bit more expensive than the traditional-pencil that needs to be sharpened, BUT it's nice to keep in the kit for the one-off projects that really need precision.

Not quite 5 stars, but close

I misunderstood that it was a ceramic lead and not chalk. On one applique piece the hard tip actually pulled up fibers where I stroked the lines! The ceramic point seems to be okay for marking a quilting line. I hand quilt most of my work and need a line that won’t rub off in the first few minutes. I plan to use it on my darker fabrics.

very useful

This is really very helpful for darker fabrics, especially when making clothes. It came off pretty easily, but I haven't pushed the limits of that very far yet- I've used it in areas where it is embroidered over, or where I've cut along the line.

Very nice

This marker makes such a nice, crisp line. And doesn't need sharpening! I love it!

Great

I've tried a variety of markers over the years. This one was recommended by an instructor of one of the zoom classes I recently took so I decided to give it a try. So far I'm pleased - very fine line which I like. Makes a white line which is good for dark fabrics but I'm wondering if there are other colors that can be used on light fabrics.
